Blood Donor Hero On Good Day Columbus

🐾 Leo Shines on Good Day Columbus:  A Hero with Heart🥇

🐾 Meet Leo—an extraordinary dog whose story is as inspiring as it is heartwarming. As a proud blood donor with the GHI Blood Bank, Leo plays a vital role in saving lives. With each donation, he has the potential to help up to four pets in need. And he takes his job seriously—sitting perfectly still, patiently waiting as our team collects his blood, all for the promise of a well-earned treat (we call it “junk food,” but Leo calls it delicious!).

But Leo’s heroism doesn’t stop there. He’s also a certified cadaver dog, trained in search and rescue to help locate missing persons. This level of discipline and skill doesn’t come easily—it’s the result of countless hours of dedicated training, led by his incredible mom, Ashley Day. Her commitment to nurturing Leo’s talents has made him not only a lifesaver for pets, but a vital resource in human rescue efforts as well.

📺 Leo was a superstar on Good Day Columbus, helping spread the word about the importance of blood donations. By representing our canine blood donors, he showed the world what your dog can do to help. His calm demeanor, heroic spirit, and unwavering dedication make him the perfect ambassador for our mission.

We’re honored to have Leo as part of our blood donor family. Here’s what Ashley had to say about how Leo came into her life and the journey they’ve shared together.

“Leo is a Catahoula Leopard Dog. I adopted him when he was 1.5 yo in April of 2022 from Stop the Suffering. He was a true Covid pup.. purchased from a breeder during the Covid months And shortly after life returned to normal, he was dropped off at a shelter at just 10 months old. He was picked up by Stop the Suffering, adopted out, and returned three months later. That’s when I found him! ”
“In Leo’s spare time he loves to go on long adventures, snuggle on the couch, meet all the people or train with his Search and Rescue team. Leo is a fully trained and deployable cadaver dog for a local SAR team, Ethos Search Ops Team. We train once a week with our team and several times a week individually. We are full time volunteers, available 24/7 to help bring closure to families. “
