10 TV News Interviews Blood Bank during Pandemic

During the pandemic in 2020, the GHI Blood Bank faced an uncertain future. As many large commercial blood banks shut down, our small local GHI Blood Bank found itself with a large waitlist for veterinary hospitals needing blood. GHI Blood Bank managers, Courtney & Mandy, reached out to news agencies to recruit canine blood donors during this challenging time. This interview with our local 10 TV news station told the story of Ellie, who was given a life-saving blood transfusion from a donor at the GHI Blood Bank. The story also helped the GHI Blood Bank recruit new blood donors to fulfill a critical need in the veterinary community. Ellie’s sister, Sammie, did become a blood donor and has since saved many canine lives – paying it forward.
